Social Media and Website

My position as Social Media Coordinator last year taught me valuable information about the importance of keeping up with an online presence and the ways to effectively do so. In my two years as Editor, I have been able to train each Social Media Coordinator in maintaining branding and engagement and worked with them to improve our social media. Creating the iliad website was another one of my main goals for the publication this year and we exceeded expectations.

Social Media Portfolio

I served as the iliad Social Media Coordinator as a sophomore and worked diligently to create posts to keep people in our community engaged with our program. I was honored to be awarded as the Runner-Up for the Social Media Promotion competition by the National Scholastic Press Association for my 2021 portfolio. Creating a New Website

During the 2021 fall semester, my Co-Editor at the time and I worked diligently to create a website for the iliad. We worked collaboratively and designed it with the help of a local website designer. We designed it using the SquareSpace platform, which both my Co-Editor and I were unfamiliar with, but we quickly got the hang of it and I thoroughly enjoyed the challenge of creating the website and branding our publication. Instagram

I'm proud of the work I did on the iliad's social media as Social Media Coordinator and above is a photo of the Instagram feed I made. In this role, I was able to grow our audience through engaging posts and inspired creativity in our community by brainstorming DIY projects and poetry prompts. Now, as Editor-in-Chief, I have been able to mentor both Social Media Coordinators in 2021 and 2022 to continue our progress. Click on the photo to visit the iliad's Instagram page.

Collaborating With A Web Designer

Our team had the privilege of meeting semi-regularly in 2021 with Beth Thrasher, a local website designer, to assist us in our journey creating our new website. Our meetings included advice on using SquareSpace, setting up our SEO, and feedback on website improvements at various stages of the site's creation. Website Content Creation

After creating our website in 2021, I have worked diligently in 2022 to populate our website with engaging content. Members of our Editorial Board complete monthly Menus to generate content for the website, including newsletters, Q&As, photo essays, and podcasts. Click the photo to view our website's stories.

Facebook

We utilized Facebook to target posts toward our parent and community member audience. This included posts about donations, events, and conferences.

My team used the social media website Pinterest frequently in the production process of the magazine. We have a shared board with sections for spread design inspiration, font and color ideas, and art inspiration for the cover and subsection dividers.
